UT 496a Patch Feedback

Post by =(V)=Kevster »

I wanted to provide some feedback relative the 469a patch that some of us are now running.

Runs really well in RX, but not so good on the sniper server. I'm not sure why, since the sniper server doesn't involve the fast movements we use on the RX server. I'll give you an example. This new version of OpenGL called XOpenGL, messes with the rifle scope. It's as if it's labored (slowed down) in motion. Even the player movement is slowed down some. RJ, has the updated version of ACE been implemented on the sniper server too?

Outside of that, I'm not sure how many of you visit our sniper server, but if you're experiencing this same issue, please post it here. Thanks!

same issues. I think we need to cap FPS to fix that. hitting 400fps then dropping to 200 is what the lag is imo

I received errors that may or may not be related to this new patch.

I cannot stay connected to the RX1 server anymore. The sniper server and RX2 don't seem to have a problem with it.

Looks like your Ut install doesn't use the default UT files and you are getting kicked for that. I would back up your UT folder and install a known legit version. such as

You know what else I noticed last night on RX, that I didn't notice before with the 469a patch, is the scope clarity. With the older 436 patch, when I scoped in with the affinity rifle, it wasn't really super clear - it was off-color. Now though, with the 469a patch, the clarity is amazingly clear. Must have fixed something in the code or how it's displayed when you scope in. Check it out when you're on for example, one of the Lego's maps.

I haven't tried D3D9 because I had some issues with D3D before, on 436, but since the introduction of the 469a patch, maybe it's better. I'll give it a try and let you know of the outcome. :thumbup

I was just on sniper, using the D3D9 driver. It works much better than version 7. The graphics don't have as much depth, shadows and quite the 3D affect that the XOpenGL driver has though, but at least there's no lag - easier to play actually. Although, I did get on GPF. So, it seems to work good. Will try the RX server next.

Have you tied optimizing the d3d render in unrealtournement ini options and/or "preferences"

DM-Gothic for example has noticeably lower playback volume compared to DM-Pressure or DM-Codex. Galaxy had no such issues.
Yep, already reported, as already pointed out by Neon_Knight in https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?p=123264#p123264
Raynor wrote:Additionally I noticed framerate can take noticeable dip during some situations like when you gib foes with combos (could be my aging hardware, but still it's rock solid with Chris Dohnal's OpenGL 3.7)
Yep, again, already confirmed and reported: https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTour ... /issues/49 It's already labeled as fixed in 469b
Raynor wrote:I found other issues such as duplicate menu entires
Yep, again, already reported and even fixed for 469b: https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTour ... /issues/22
Raynor wrote:and weird glitches on some maps (using XOpenGL with default conf)
I made clean just in case, but it still keeps happening.
Yep, again, already reported, most of them already fixed for 469b: https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTour ... el%3Avideo+
Raynor wrote:While this patch has many quality of life improvements, it imho looks too rough for regular use.
Yep, again, already mentioned, devs even stated so in their bug tracker README: https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?p=122780#p122780, everyone awaiting 469b, but it might still require 469c.

We appreciate willingness to help and report bugs, but it seems that such unnecessarily duplicated bug reports will turn this thread into unreadable spamfest soon. People just don't read, just take a look at an example, this bug tracker died several years ago, no matter how many times it was told it's dead and to not report any issues anymore, people still report issues lolz !:
