so being completely new to this program
I want to be able to make the best quality videos / demos possible

but video is pretty much the only medium I have never dabbled in
so if anyone can assist me (and possibly other new comers to said program)

it'd be greatly appreciated knowing which settings to adjust to what values etc etc

Just open fraps and then minimize it. Open your UT and you will see a red number on one of the top corners of your screen. When you want to start recording, just click F10 and the number will become green, showing that recording has started. Once you are done, click F10 again to stop. Then you just go to the folder you chose to store the video in and get it. Fraps unfortunately makes BIG files..so your video might be in the GB range... lol

hehe thanks greek...but the recording aspect I myself understand (its pretty straight forward with the hotkeys)

its the other aspects im more concerned about

do I keep it at 30fps ...or us 60fps or a different one (as ive seen really bad captured videos out there)
and what is this buffer loop time of 30 seconds...does that need changing
do I lock framerate while recording ..etc etc

so its the settings that I want configured properly


cause capturing and rendering video is always finicky (and large in size)
**but i have WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe or Bigasoft Total Video Converter to convert them a lot smaller
so im not to worried about the original large file size it creates

Lol this is why I need to stop posting when I ve slept only for three hours. I actually thought you wanted help with that.

I have tried to play with the settings before so I can get good quality videos for less file size but I couldnt work it out. So I have mine set to the default settings like you have now...The quality is excellent but then the size will be in the GB range.

just want the best optimal videos possible ..so if anyone has knowledge in what good settings they can recommend

ALSO...what format does it render in
avi ? mp4 ? mkv ? etc etc

It's best to toy around with the settings to get a feel how your computer handles it. When I used fraps, the higher I set the fps, the more lag I'd get when trying to play while using fraps. I'd set it high when spec'ing though.

1/ Play without fraps so do a demo.

2/ Play the demo and fraps for record it.

If you record and playing at the same time you can lag and or have pl or low fraps in game.

You can use divx converter after for reduce the video size.

Sadly,demos don't work for RX.
But I do recommend to better be at spectator to record the video, since playing while recording will happen as medor say, may get PL, framedrop, and SLIDE in RX.(Still dunno why when frames drop you get slide in RX.)

strange I cant play that demo, says connecting. Might be my UT that got messed. But look how demos rx demos showed for me:

may be you have missings files like my skin and xconsole

you need to update the ini
